During the last year businesses around Europe tried to intensify its online presence and the best reference is domain name registration growth trend. How COVID pushed slow turning wheels of domain registration, how registries around Europe helped in the fight against abuse on the internet and how they supported their local communities will be explained by Peter Van Roste.

Peter Van Roste is the general manager of CENTR, the Council of European National Top-level Domain Registries, a lawyer with an LL.M. in computer and telecommunications law with a career path paved with liaises with governments, institutions and other organisations in the internet ecosystem

Kei Shimada is an American entrepreneur, angel investor and currently the leader of the Digital Makers Lab at IBM Japan. In his current role, he is leading a group of talented engineers in creating world first, region first, industry first innovative products and solutions through co-creation with external technology partners around the globe. He has won a variety of awards from his diverse works, including creative awards such as the OneShow, CES Innovation Awards and government awards. Some of his recent roles involve leading a team to produce the world’s first AI classic concert at Ars Electronica and advising the Japanese government on their national GPS satellite strategies. Kei is one of Japan’s most active keynote speakers, having given talks and moderated panels in over 20 countries as well. His interests include neural technology, next-generation mobility, cooking and teaching his son to code.

Peter Van Roste is the General Manager of CENTR, the European country code top-level domain association. Peter oversees all of CENTR’s activities and liaises with governments, institutions and other organisations in the internet ecosystem. Before joining CENTR, Peter was director of European government relations for eBay. Peter is a lawyer with an LL.M. in computer and telecommunications law. He started his career at internet service provider UUNET, has served as president of ISPA Belgium and EuroISPA and is currently serving as a member of the IETF LLC Board.

Branimir was born in Belgrade in 1984 and completed undergraduate studies in economics in London in the area of marketing, followed by an MBA at the Instituto de Empresa business school in Madrid.

Over the last 15-or-so years he has gained a wide variety of experience in difference industries and companies, such as Holcim, UŠCE Shopping Center and Microsoft, and is currently heading the Spanish courier service Glovo, which provides fast delivery of anything in town within 30-45 minutes.

He is highly motivated, practical and development-orientated, not just with respect to the people and businesses within Glovo but also the entire industry and ecosystem that has proven to be one successful solution in the fight against COVID.

He has headed technical and business teams in both corporations and startups and today works as the general manager of the Belgrade office of a regional leader in the field of software services, Symphony.

He has for many years been a column-writer for the monthly computer magazine Svet Kompjutera and has significant experience in print media, television and radio.

Vladimir Radunović is a lecturer and Director of educational programmes in the areas of Internet governance, cyber-security and e-diplomacy at the Diplo Foundation, an international non-governmental institution.

He was a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise and was a member of the UN Multistakeholder Advisory Group for the Internet Governance Forum. His professional focus is on Internet and broadband access policies, cyber-security, net neutrality and openness, e-diplomacy and e-participation, education and capacity-building for institutions and Internet decision-makers.

He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade and has a Master’s degree in contemporary diplomacy from the University of Malta, and is currently doing his PhD on cyber-security.

He has run his own marketing consultancy, has founded and sold his own agency and filled senior roles in different kinds of agencies from digital trailblazers to international players.

Satirist and screenwriter. Graduate in Communication Studies. Consultant in market communications, the most experienced professional copywriter in Serbia. Vojislav has been the author of numerous communication campaigns for products, services, industries and retail stores; he is a consultant and brand coach with many years of experience working with companies in Serbia and abroad. He is a lecturer at the Faculty of Media and Communications.

He is a winner of a Gold Award at the festival in Florence, the Golden Drum in Portorož, the Golden Rose of Montreux and the Golden Idea in Novi Sad. He has written columns in the Dnevni Telegraf, Evropljanin, NIN and Večernje Novosti newspapers and magazines. Žanetić is well-known to the public as one of the editors and writers of the Indeksovo Radio Pozorište (“Index Radio Theatre” – a long-running satirical radio show), and later writer and co-writer of a spin-off stage show, the Indeksovo Pozorište (“Index Theatre”). He is currently a co-writer of the satirical talk-show, “PLjiŽ”. Vojislav is a previous winner of the Branko Ćopić Award for satire and the Neven Award for children’s literature.

Ivan is an e-commerce manager with more than 10 years’ experience in online sales both at home and abroad. He has developed his career to date in startups and the telecommunications sector, always in the area of internet sales. He gained valuable experience running one of the largest online retailers in Serbia, tehnomanija.rs. Ivan gained additional international experience in the betting industry, working for Mozzart in 12 markets over 3 continents. He is currently manager of the online sales department of Planeta Sport. He established the first e-commerce magazine in the Balkans in which he has published more than 100 original articles on the topic of online selling. As of 2019 he has been a member of the governing board of the e-Commerce Association of Serbia.

Professional procrastinator. Oskar once solved the Rubik’s Cube in 75 seconds, has a 1500 rating in chess and a bronze medal in table tennis doubles in the Novi Sad recreational league. He has been making websites as a hobby for 12 years and is currently putting bread on the table doing e-commerce. His dream is to one day achieve a chess rating of 1700.
GeekShop is a hobby project and came about quite by chance. It was supposed to be an experiment in testing marketing ideas that made no sense whatsoever. At the moment it’s a one-man show, with the warehouse guy also working in marketing and doing administrative work. Word-of-mouth recommendations have been delaying our closure for 4 years now.

A writer of prose, author of novels Srpski Psiho (“Serbian Psycho”) and “PR”, executive director of Knjižara Roman online bookshop. He has been in the publishing, e-commerce and digital marketing business for nearly 15 years.

Knjižara Roman was established in March 2020 and began operating in mid-October of the same year. The bookshop stocks practically every book from every Serbian publisher. Books are delivered within 60 minutes to anywhere in Belgrade. For the rest of Serbia delivery time is one to two days. In addition to selling books they also have a publishing arm. To date they have published 12 titles, each with its own eye-catching design and binding. They are focused on establishing a people-centred, professional but not overly formal or stilted relationship with readers in which trust is at the forefront, believing that this is the way to build a partnership which is more than just a buyer-seller relationship. They believe deeds speak louder than form. In short, they do what they love, the way they think it should be done.
